Good day everyone! :)

I am redoing my vinyl upholstery in my boat :D . The large side panels are fastened to the boat via stainless screws that have a special washer, the washer has a white plastic "ring" in it to prevent corrosion streaks on the vinyl.... I think

I have checked overtons, west marine, gary's upholstery, etc.

Any ideas where these can be found on the internet? Thank you.

My concern would be the metal. Would hate to see it rust and bleed out.

Are you talking about what we see in the picture, or what is called a nylon cup washer?

Type "upholstery" into Google.......

theres Lots of places selling those things in Every Color in the Rainbow........

There used to hide the screwheads in their work.......

I've used Chrome/Brass Snaps to do the same thing.......

Re: Can't find upholstery hardware anywhere

Thank you all, Jack... What I currently have is not what is pictured above. My screwhead is visible, there is a white plastic spacer ring in addition to the metal washer. It appears to prevent the metal washer from contacting the vinyl upholstery.

Thx Bondo, I have searched and searched (overture not google ) and have not been able to locate these items. Also, do you think I should use some grease??? lol

The item I am referring to can be seen on my boat website at:

http//:www.geocities.com/keithrstone/boat.html

The pictures are high definition, and download slow for those on dialup ;)

See the picture with my daughter in it, to her left are the screws in a row. Not the best picture but it might help with a visual.

Thank you all and I hope to overcome this supply problem and continue with the expensive rebuild of my little bundle of expensive overpriced joy that appears to have a large black hole that eats money! :(

Re: Can't find upholstery hardware anywhere

Sorry, but the link does not work. I suspect you have what is called a metal cup washer with a nylon cup washer behind it. The screw head would be an oval or flat head.

The cup washer distributes the load and forms a place for screwhead to nest. The nylon fits behind the metal and keeps the metal off the surface eliminating scratches and stuff.

Now that I have described it, for the life of me I can't find it listed anywhere. My local ACE hardware may have them. I will look the next time I am there and try to get some more info.

Why not use the ones pictured above....I like those especially if the screw head got a burr on it you wouldn't have to worry about it scratching or cutting someone if they rubbed up against it.

Wow, more posts.... as for the link, see the bottom of each post, it has the link, remember it is slow. I am looking at the link Bondo, and I DO think I like these better than my OEM (shhhhhh!)

I've seen those at our local Home Depot in the bulk bins in the hardware section.

Making the trip to the city tomorrow, will check Home Depot. Picking up some more vinyl at JoAnn's (for my upholstery redo), need some more epoxy brushes (for seat frames), let's see...

Big warning on getting vinyl from you local fabric store - they are probably not UV resistant, and may have problems standing up to cold temperatures.

For the work you need to do to recover the cushions it is worth making sure you have the right material so it will last.

Don't forget UV resistant thread.
