Ok I know, what a dork. But I have forgotten if I added the 2 stroke oil to a plastic tank of 25 litres of fuel. Is there a way to tell if the oil is in there. If I add another lot it will end up at 25:1 instead of 50:1. Engine is a 79 Johno 70hp. Many thanks.

Color. The gas will look tinted dark blue just compare it to fresh gas. If you happen to "double the dose" of oil it will still run and just be extra lubricated. You will get more smoke for that tank too.

Bob

John - I would add to be on the safe side. Bob's advice may not be good down under if your fuel is a different color than ours. As he said it won't hurt.

Spot on solittle, our regular unleaded is purple/blue.

Double dose is better than none or start with a fresh load.

If it'd be me, I'd dump it into your old beater the refill and remeasure the oil. If your beater is carbuerated it won't mind the oil mix. Your two stroke won't particularly care for a double dose of oil.

One tank of 25:1 won't hurt anything. Might make the plugs a little dirty...clean/replace them after you're done. Believe me, one tank of 25:1 is WAY better than one tank of 1:0. :D

Outboard non-repair topic.
