Definatly use synthetic! You can buy synthetic automotive gear oil as the synthetics have adaquat antifoaming aditives and protect against moisture, they also will protect your gears better than conventional oil if for some reason you should get moisture in the lower unit!

A nice way to install it is to buy a gallon and get a pump that fits the bottle! Buy a rubber nipple for an air blower and fashion a hose from the pump and the nipple, then you can just pump the oil into the lower hole, (Drain) untill it comes out of the top hole! Works very well!

Amsoil, Royal Purple, Mobil, Penzoil, Valvoline, Most any of them will be fine!75W-90! or close!
