I boat in SW Florida and usually buy premium gas at a Shell station in Venice. How can a person know if the gas contains alcohol (ethanol) or not (Shell states that it does NOT add methanol alcohol)? Would I be more safe buying gas at a fuel depot on the ICW, as far as alcohol content in concerned? The motor is a 1998 Force 90HP.

In Florida, the pump must state if the gasoline contains alchohol. You will rarely see it in Florida at this point in time.

Can't speak to a Force but most outboard manufacturers recommend 87 octane. Check your manual.

SoLittle

I have heard of alot of Force owners running Midgrade fuel, but never high test. I don't know why, as I would think it would carbon up faster using the higher grade gas. I'd use 87 and decarb if it were mine. Also. same here in Missouri on the Alcohol thing. It must be listed on the pump!!
