I just had my 97 150 fast strike rebuilt due to seizing and my mechanic said that the vro went out because when he took off the cap on my oil reservoir it was full of gas, does this happen often? but anyway he ordered new vro for 250.00 and I was just wondering if I decide to premix do I need a new vro?

Re: vro question

If you pre-mix you don't need a VRO fuel pump, but you'll still need a working fuel pump of some sort. Non VRO pumps are significantly cheaper.

Cheers,

Re: vro question

No! for some reason my vro pump was allowing gas to pump back into my oil reservoir so there was still something going into the engine through the pump so it must have thought nothing was wrong, I didnt get any warning horns or nothing just a siezed motor. I thought I had plenty of oil but it wasnt oil that I could see in the oil tank. 3300 dollars later Im not so sure that I like the vro system either.

Re: vro question

so If I decide to pre mix then would my old vro be fine or since it has an obvious leak or bad seal I still need a pump right, what other pumps work?

Re: vro question

If the fuel side of your pump is good, then there's no reason to not use it. If it's leaking, then you will need a conventional pump replacement. Like this one:

web page At the bottom of the VRO section.

438402 Price:$155.00

EDIT: After re-reading your post, you will for sure need a new fuel pump, because it's cracked inbetween the oil and fuel side.
