I purchased a new boat 3 1/2 years ago with a 70 Johnson on it. When I dropped in to have a look at the fit out they had fitted a 60 on to it  .Have always been suspect that they just changed cowls. Anyhow, could be my paranoid mind  .
Here are the numbers; Serial, G04860125.
Model, BJ70PLSSD.
Family, YIPXMOO56210.
Power, 52.3kw.
Displacemant, 56:1
The sticker with the BJ70 on it seems to have been tampered with and has paint around the edges.
Did they in the factory, put the stickers on then paint the engines?

Re: 2000 JOHNSON HP QUERY.

The serial number you provided does come up as a 2000 model year 70 hp, with a manufacter date of March 26, 2000.

Normally the engines are painted and decals and serial numbers are one of the last items installed before the engine is boxed.

If the serial number sticker has been tampered with, you would be able to read the word "VOID" which is an embossed security feature of those stickers. Most likely, there was some type of minor cosmetic damage from shipping and someone did a poor touch up job.

Hope this helps,
-John
