I've got a problem with my 1970 Johnson 115hp v-4.
While running at almost full throttle, I had a fuel line burst and cause the motor die suddenly. I repaired the line and the motor started fine, problem is, the motor will push the boat fine up to wake speed and then if you give any more throttle the motor will seem to shift out of gear. The engine will rev up, but the propeller will seem to "free-wheel". Move the throttle back to -N- and then back up and will work up to 5mph.
Any ideas where I should start looking?? Thanks.

Hey powercat...welcome to iboats....

Look at the prop. Sounds like it spun. This means the rubber in the hub don't got no grip anymore.

Here's a way to find out.....remove the prop and make a mark from the rubber hub to the metal part of the hub. Ink should be the type that don't wash off. Install the prop and try it again. When the motor revs' again and you don't go nowhere, remove the prop and look at the line. If the line don't line up anymore, the hub is spun. They can be rehubbed and it's cheap enough.

Keep us posted.
