I have a 94 70 johnnyrude with a 13 x 19 prop. I only get 5200 rpms and was wondering from all of the other post if it would be worth the money to go down to a 17 pitch?

Re: ANOTHER PROP/RPM QUESTION

With 17 pitch engine speed will be increased with same boat speed.
So you may reach a higher top speed because engine power is maximum only at certain rpm.
You may get maximum boat speed only when engine runs with maximum power rpm.
But consider boat acceleration will decrease and fuel consumption we increase.

Nordy from Germany

Re: ANOTHER PROP/RPM QUESTION

I would play around with the trim of the motor first. where is the AV plate located in relationship to the keel/bottom of the hull? You might be able to raise it a little. Also, you could adjust the trim a little. IF any of the above can be done, it should be better than getting a new prop. You will gain rpm and speed. With a new prop where the motor is set now will gain rpm but not speed

Just my $.02. I'm kinda new here and I'm sure there will be others with more knowledge and great input.
