I have an old johnson#513796 #td20 I think it is an 1949 5hp Not sure. need to know what plugs it takes and the best place for parts. The marina<br />says they can get parts for this old of a unit??<br />thanks in advance.
Howdy, BW.<br /><br />The TD-20 was made from 1946 to 1949. All years are essentially identical.<br /><br />Use Champion J6C or J8C plugs, gapped at .030". Use the J8 if you mostly troll, J6 for mostly high speed operation.<br /><br />Gap the points at .020"<br /><br />There are thousands of TD-20 still in regular use, so any JohnnyRude dealer or NAPA Auto Parts Store can get what parts you may need.<br /><br />Good luck.
Thanks for the info. The dealer did not have a parts manual that went back that far.The part i am having the most problem with is the springs on the top of the fly wheel for the pull start. Can't find them..
Hi Big, you might find some of those springs around. The orignal part# is 41,195. If you have one to copy,it may be easier to make your own. With a little trial and error you could supprise yourself.
