Rhino.... You don't say what year that 115hp Johnson is, so we don't know if it has a VRO setup or not. However, the possibilities of your problem might be:

1 - You removed the thermostat(s), preventing your engine from reaching the proper operating temperature quickly.

2 - The valves in the fuel primer bulb might be faulty, which in some cases may allow the fuel to siphon backwards from the engine, causing the engine to run lean until the required fuel is once again suppied to the engine.

3 - You're tilting the engine up while in the water fishing, allowing the engine to bounce around with the carburetor floats off level, which in some cases may allow fuel to spill into the carburetor face plate, resulting in a rich mixture when restarting.

We'll need more info on exactly what you do, what you encounter, and the year of the engine.

Hi rhino....if you would post the model number, we can tell ya' what year it is. And as Joe posted, a little more info is needed as to when you last tuned the engine, have you removed the t-stats, is this a new to you boat or a problem that has just started.

Thanks for any info you can give.
