Motor on alum boat. Just bought- runs OK in driveway but shorts out when put in water?<br />50ESL71S

Usually if it runs in the driveway and not on the water it is a fuel supply problem.It probably<br />starts and runs but when you hit it it stumbles<br />and or stalls.<br />If it has been sitting a long time you may have to go through the fuel systyem from tank to carb.Special attention to cleaning.Check all connections,fittings and connectors.

It won't start in the water. Also I can start, then back in water and it dies.

If you tuned and set the idle on the muffs, you will have to set the Idle up again because the back preasure is causing it to die. <br />dont start the engine out of the water anymore, your impeller will toast itself in just a few seconds out of the water, hope you havnt fried it already. Can you restart it at all while in the water?

I am sure it is electrical problem- they put on different throttle control box and it hasn't worked since' Previous owner said girlfriend cut all cables,etc.

Lee - Get the OMC Shop manual for your motor. Those manuals have photos and wiring diagrams.
