whats my spsrk plug gap

i have a 1989 40hp evinrude 2-stroke o/b with 2 plugs champion (QL78C) what is the gap for this? it reads .030 right now

.030 is the recommeded gap, but I and others have found that they run better at the old recommeded setting of .040.
