Hi,
my tilt didn't work at all and I found that the problem was the tilt/trim electric motor. Sp I changed it. Now, it will only go down. I have tried to change the polarity, and then it goes up, but not down so there is no problem with the motor. I have also switched the relays and it still won't go up. I have also mesured just before the relay that I have full voltage between green wire to ground when clicking the up-button.

Arrgh... it should be working! But it doesn't... any tips?

Forgot: I have a evinrude 110 hk, from 1989

Howdy..

Any chance the new motor has been connected incorectly, you refer to the "green Wire" reporting a voltage when the "up" button is hit, I think the green ( grass = down) should light up when you hit the down button and the Blue (sky = up)should light up when you hit the up button.

dm

Re: tilt and trim

Hi,
no, I don't think so. I have tried switching the polarity, and the motor goes up when pressing the down button. So there is something wrong with the "up-button-circuit". As I said, the electric motor is brand new, the relays are working. What else could be the problem?

Re: tilt and trim

Asok.... Each relay incorporates two sets of contacts. To simplify things, "Down" voltage would flow from the PTT switch to the "Green Wire" of the "Right Relay", from there to and through the electric motor, flowing from the electric motor through the "Blue Wire" to the "Left Relay", and from there to Ground to complete the circuit.

With the electric motor connected properly, and only one travel mode operating, and switching the relays made no difference, I would assume that there is a problem with the ground circuit (Black Wires) at or leading from the "Left Relay".

Bottom line... Remove and clean all of the black ground wires, including the black ground wires within the relay plug.

It would also be nice if you got back to us, letting us know if it was successful. We really hate to be kept hanging after taking the trouble to help out.

Sure, hopefully I'll go down this weekend, so I can give you status then. I really appreciate all this help. Thanks

Re: tilt and trim

It sounds like you could have a switch problem since the motor runs either direction when you switch the polarity. I think one set of contacts is working and the other is open circuited.

Billy

Re: tilt and trim

Problem solved! After a couple of hours and lots of measuring. I noticed a small drop of voltage just before the left switch, 0,2 V. That was enough to make in inoperable...

Thanks for all help!

Re: tilt and trim

I'm not really sure... There seemed to be some kind of rubber on the side of the contacts, and that might have come between the contacts. But I'm not sure... I'm not sure if this makes any sense to you, but anyway...
