HI, DHADLEY. AFTER WORKING HARD ON THE ENGINE<br />(OMC V4, Looper, 1986)...., I WAS THINKING:<br />WHAT'S THE USE OF THE WATER PRESSURE VALVE LOCATED AT THE STARBOARD SIDE OF THE ENGINE?.<br />MAY I ABLE,TO REMOVE THE THAT WPV ??; OR I CAN PLUG THE HOSE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE THERMO. COVER ?<br />THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.<br /><br />DON

hello<br /> its to hold the t-stats on the seats below 1500 or so RPMs<br /> if ya remove it ya have to convert the heads to late style t-stats.<br /> good luck and keep posting

That's exactly what I would do. Use the cap and spring from a 93 V4 looper or newer. Then you can do away with the valve and all those hoses.

I've jusrt got the same motor and the pipe from the port T-stat was blocked off at the valve and routed to the pee hole. I restored it to original. If 'new style' T-stats were put in would this present a problem?

here are the #s that i found from one of Dh's old posts.<br />333967 cover<br />329839 gasket<br />333858 spring<br />320880 seat (rubber donut)<br />330273 cap (holds donut in)<br />434137 t-stat (black)<br />i believe the old bolts will work, ill check.<br />i replaced mine with SS.<br />-<br />if you have done any main. you should already have the last 3.<br />i installed a water pressure gauge hose to the elbow that supplies the control valve for the pressure gauge. thats the correct area for it.<br />hope that helps.<br />-<br />ft walton is my old stomping ground along with gulf breeze. <br />good luck!!!
