The motor is a 1989 Johnson 200 hp Looper, J200TXCEA 02272209. I flooded the boat for the first time while idling out of the marina. .The tide was low and the motor was trimmed up quite a ways. When I started it, there was smoke, but that wasnt abnormal after flooding. We cruised for about 20 miles. While flushing motor, gas ran down the side of the motor out of silencer box. When I opened the silencer box, the carbs were partly burned, as were some vacumm line hoses and the inner part of the silencer box. We never even knew there was a fire. Advise on cause? Am replacing carbs with rebuilt 225s, but need info on how vacuum hoses are supposed to be connected and routed around the carbs.

Re: carb fire

Sorry the post was so long I tried to give all info possible. The Clymer manual does not show anything relating to the vaccum hoses and how they hook up. Also, there did not appear to have been any overheating on the heads.
