Best oil for a JOhnson150 2-stroke

I did a search and found alot of stuff on oils. But now it's more confusing to me.<br />Bottom line...for a 2-stroke JOhnson. Which oil is better. The guy who sold me the boat told me Yamlube. I went today to West Marine and they told me their oil is better and AShless, but then I read a tread where ashless oil tends to leave more deposits on inside your engine. AAHHHHHHH!<br />

I posted something on this earlier about what type of oil to use in a 175 Johnson. I'm going to use TCW-3 synthetic from Pennzoil. They have so many posts in here about oil its disgusting. I'm going to say the same thing I did earlier. <br /><br /> Oil is oil.

Any TCW3 oil is acceptible and will lubricate your engine just fine.More important to longevity in an engine is to have it propped correctly and perform regular maintenance in keeping it fine tuned.

What OB said.<br /><br />If you really want more info, try the oil article in the FAQ section.<br /><br />Selecting an oil and calling it "best" is a trivial matter IF you take proper care of the engine. If you don't, what oil you use will not matter.

I'm on board with the others, but I get less plug fouling with synthetic when trolling.

Can the Ficht Ram oil be used in a carb 150 Johnson? If OK, any reason not to run the Ram oil?

Yes the Ficht Ram oil can used. Should be less smoke. Maby less carbon.

Hey, I use Mercury's Premium Plus ($13 gallon) in my 96 Evinrude 225 Ocean Pro since my rebuild last year and have no carbon buildup after 70 hours. Any oil offered buy the name brands will work well. Just buy the stuff with the carbon guard premixed with the oil.<br /><br />Just my opinion.
