I had one cylinder practically melt, rings worn flush, bearings all dry on that rod and piston top worn down.
- Was that cylinder possibly not getting fuel/lubrication?
- How can I check to be sure each cylinder is getting fuel in the correct amount?
- What else could have caused this problem?
Thanks for the help.

Certainly sounds like the cylinder was running lean. As part of the overhaul, rebuild the carbs. Soak them out and use compressed air to blow out all passages. Install new kits. And don't forget to take out the jets and make sure they are open.

Also, you will want to check the water pump impeller and replace if it hasn't been replaced in a while. Same goes for the t-stat.

And by the way....welcome to iboats forums!!

When you rebuild replace all the fuel lines on the motor, my 74 70hp wiped out the top cyl because the fuel line to it plugged up with gum from old fuel. Just a thought.
