Good price. Run a compression check before spending any money. Post your results here.
Oh, and welcome to Iboats.

Evinrude Model 15028
Year 1959
HP 18
WOT RPMS 4500
Displacement 22.0 cu.in. = 360.5 ccm
Cylinders 2
Weight 79 lbs. = 35.8 Kg
Gear ratio 15:26
Picture.
from The Old OMC Site
Spark plugs: Champion J4C (was J4J) gapped at .030"
Fuel mix: 24:1 87 octane gas to TCW-3 rated outboard oil. Check out the Oil Mix FAQ in the Engine FAQ Forum.

They built engines around that block for over 30 years. Many parts for these older Johnny/Rudes are cheap and available (still made).

It's identical, except for the trim.
Up until the late 90's, the only difference between a Johnson and an Evinrude of the same year was the colour of the paint, and the design of the hood.

Despite what you may have heard about Johnsons being the better engine. I understand Evinrudes are supposed to be the superior engine in some locals. :D

Hi JDSKI,
I just purchased the same motor for my 14ft jon. Works great. Does this one run? I paid a little more for mine though $150.00.

Thanks for the great info. Just got the motor yesterday. Hoping to get the boat that went with it. The prior owner said it ran well before he fogged the motor and put it into storage a few years ago. I'm not really into motor fixing but I'm going to get this one started in my spare time. I took the hood off last night and all the wires look good inside, I did notice a clear plastic "bowl and it looked crusted in there. I would guess that it is the cork float? I guess the next thing to do is test compression and if it looks good get myself a manual and see what I need to do to get it running.

Yup, and if it sat for a few years, a water pump impeller replacement is manditory. It's an easy task, and you usually only need a set of wrenches to accomplish it. Plus a manual.
The old rubber impeller will have taken on a 'set' by now from sitting. When you remove it and compare it with a new one, you'll see what I mean. You should replace the impeller once every two years anyway.
The plastic bowl is actually pyrex glass, and that's the fuel filter you're seeing in there. The carburetor is directly on the front of the engine, and it's 'bowl' is the bottom half of it. I like those pyrex filters - you can easily see fuel contamination with them.

Is your engine equipped with a (optional) fuel pump? If it's got one fuel line hose than it is, and if it doesn't it'll have two hoses on the fuel line. If it's got two, you must use a pressurized type tank with it. Hopefully it came with one. You can find them on ebay - search for 'pressure tank'.

Good luck!
