I was recently given a 1970 Larson w/ a 70 85hp Evinrude Starflite by my cousin. The power pack was burned up when he gave it to me so i replaced the pack with a new CDI, started it in the yard with the hose, and it ran great. Put it out on the lake and its just terribly sluggish. I think its running about 1/3 of what it should. At WOT if I gradually back off, about halfway between full and start the RPM's pick up some. The throttle is opening all the way, ignition components look good, synchronized carb and dis. carbs look very clean. What to do?

Carbs doesnt usually get dirty on outside, unless something leaks. Take carbs apart, remove all plastic parts and soak carb body overnight. Next day blow all passages through with compressed air, wearing glasses. Symptoms pionts exactly at lack of fuel.

Agreed, sounds like the high speed jets are clogged.
