Hi, my engine suddely stops during normal operation. It just dies. Is is impossible to get it started. But when I remove the engine from the boat and place is horizontal put it in my car and at home try to start it again it works without problem. I have had this problem several times now. Cooling seems to be ok. Carburetor is clean. Fuel to the carberator is ok.
Sparkplugs are ok. Could there be something wrong with the fuel. I think there is 1 litre old mixed with 5 litre fresh fuel.

Any idea's

regards, Rob

Rob,
Try this, the next time it dies, remove the motor cover and spray premix fuel into the carb throat and see if she starts again. If it does start and run for a few seconds, look for a fuel delivery problem. Perhaps the carb float is sticking closed, when you remove the motor, the float unsticks and she starts. Check for water in your fuel tank and drain the carb bowl, looking for water.
Another possibility is a defective coil. When it overheats it kills a cylinder and the motor stops. The ride home gives the coil time to cool and it restarts. When it dies, check both plugs for spark. If you have a kill switch, disconnect it, perhaps it's shorting out your ignition.

I have a motor just like that one and it quit on me once and I found a condenser breaking down.

I doubt it's an ignition problem, as it's unlikely that BOTH cylinders would drop out simultaneously. That motor will start and run on one cylinder. Go with Xcusme's recommendation on the carburetor float - likely that needle sticking...
- Scott
