Need help rebuilding t&t piston.

I have a johnson 1976 115hp model # 115etl76g<br /><br /><br />I have a manuel and it does not go over rebuilding pistions.<br /><br />All I want to do is replace the seals in the pistons. <br /><br />The top of the piston unscrews. What tool do I unscrew it with? <br /><br />Is there a manuel I can get that tells how to do this?<br /><br />Thanks for all the help.

Does anybody know what the tool looks like?<br /><br />Is it something I can make?<br /><br />The top of the piston has a cap with four holes in it. <br /><br />Does the tool have four pin or three?

Well I think I am going to justb hammer on it until it comes apart.<br /><br />I will just super glue back together.<br /><br />What do you think?

You can make a tools that looks like this one :<br />

<br /><br />Find a 30 cm long long pice of metal (50 mm x 4 mm ) + 2 bolts .<br /><br />A better idea than hammer/glue

I have an actual Evinrude repair manual that shows the picture of the tool and also tell how to rebuild the cylinder. The tool # is 324958. it looks like a socket with 4 prongs coming out of it. I got my manual online,but I can't remember where the address was. I only paid about $27 for the manual. It covers everything.

Thanks for the help.<br /><br />I am going to make a tool Just like in the picture. I think I am going to make it with three pin instead of two.<br /><br />So the top Just unscrewes?<br /><br />Like the back of a watch. Hey what can I say I am a jeweler.

It says it called a Trim sleeve remover. I can send you a picture of the page with it on it if I know where to email it or if someone knows how I can add the picture here.

Generally, every rebuild kit I've bought comes with the tool.<br /><br />I've also always called it a "Spanner"<br /><br />Check with your local dealer. At the very least, he probably has dozens of them laying around and will probably give you one if it's not included in the rebuild kit.

I have checked with my local dealer.<br /><br />He says I should call Snapon.<br /><br />I like Snapon I just don't like there prices.

bill, i have made a tool before to remove those caps for a merc i once had. i used an old socket the right diameter and a small grinder to grind down the side until i had 2 small "protrusions" sticking up about 1/4" long or so. then i used a file to round them off to the right size. worked like a champ.

Well <br /><br />Guys I built three diffrent tools using sockets wrenches they all broke these were not dinkey little tools. I managed to get one top off but the other I keep breaking tools on.<br /><br />I don't know what to do now.<br /><br />Do you think I can take it to my local dealer and they will take it off for me?

I called my local delear today.<br /><br />They want 30 bucks just to look at it.<br /><br />Called one dealer he said to try heating the cap up.<br /><br />Well I have run outof ideas so I am going to heat it up.<br /><br />I love to use my torch.

Well fellas<br /><br />I got her. She si all rebuilt.<br /><br />The only problem I have now is I broke the nipple for the sending unit(I think thats what its called).<br /><br />Hope the dealer has a new one.<br /><br />Thanks to everyone who helped.<br /><br />It was a success.
