Need Help ASAP with my 50hp Johnson

Just bought this from a old widow today Model Number 50FSL75B serial E4264386. Iwant to take it on the lake tommorow but need to know the fuel mix ratio and also would like to know the year manufact. any one who has info please let me know, also any ideas for best performance?

Hello montana and welcome to iboats.<br /><br />Your 50 horse is a 1975. Fuel mix is 50:1...16oz of oil for 6 gallons of gas. Make sure the oil is TCW-3 rated.<br /><br />If this is the firt run, keep tabs on the engine temp. The engine should run smoothly through all throttle settings. In addition to OBJ's good advice, change the lower unit fluid(Quick Job) and use fresh fuel in the tank. Watch that temp. as mentioned. Has it been sitting long without running? Most of all, have fun!....
