Trim / Tilt switch on motor will not work

i have a 1990 90 hp. Johnson, and the trim/ tilt switch on the side of the engine is not working at all. further up the wire it has bullet connectors, but thats all i know.... if anyone knows anything about this, give my post a hola-- thanx.

Carefully unplug the RED bullet and either one of the other bullets (green or blue). Now, touch the two wires together temporarily (not the ones on the switch, the other ones). If the PTT makes an attempt to move, replace the switch.<br /><br />Those switches have been known to fail often, not on the same engine however.

Sunbird...if the TNT switch on the control handle is working, most likely the switch on the pan is bad. Simple test.....<br /><br />The three wires to the pan switch are red, green and blue. Red is 12Volts. Green is down and blue is up. Disconnect the three wires from the switch. Take a jumper and put it to the red wire and jump to the blue wire. If the engine goes up, put the jumper to the red. If it goes down, Switch bad. replace.
