My 15 HP had starting problems. Hooked up an old Johnson Tank to it and went around the lake. I have replaced all fuel lines, o-rings and have cleaned that carb till it shines. Now not only can I not start it gas comes out a small hole at the top left of the carb and still can't get gas into the bowl itself.......????? any ideas. Would like to take the family fishing this weekend .... I hope

serial # 15014 50705

Hi Faithful
This sounds like an interesting problem. I beleive the hole you are speeking of is the vent for the carb bowl. If your not getting fuel in the bowl, how is the fuel comming out the hole? Is it possible that you installed the gasket up side down? Did you install the correct gasket? Did to install and preperly adjust the float?

The old gasket is fine but I'm not sure of the needle ... I tried to clean it up as much as possible but I think it sticks.

If the float valve needle is sticking in the open position it will cause flooding (fuel spewing from vent and over rich air/fuel mix to the cyl's. The cause of this sticking may be a float that don't, or it may be mal adjusted. Do you have a manual?

Re: 55 Fastwin 15HP Gas Problems

have one more question (re-built the carb & that seems to be OK) Still cant get it to run... The gas tank ... I put new gaskets & cleaned it out good. The fuel line is constantly pressurized. Even when you take off the cap their is no pressure but the gas line is primed. Doesn't seem right to me.....?

That is correct. Allyour doing on the tank is priming the carb. Once you get the motor operating, the motor sends a pulse of air to tank to keep pressure in tank which keeps fuel flowing to carb.

I'm assuming you talk about old johnson tank your talking about the dual line setup

I can only think of one thing, because this happened to me. If you set the gas tank higher than the carb it seems to always flood out. Hope this helps.
