I just bought a 65hp johnson on ebay. It looks brand new--just a few small scratches on the lower unit. The guy I bought it from said it was a late 70's engine, but from what I read, the 65hp is probably more like a 72-73 model. He's looking for a model#--the serial plate is gone. Does anyone know of a link to older johnson motors (with pictures would be great). It is a 3 cylinder and looks like a pretty heavy engine. Compression is 125 on all 3. The cowling is all white except a small stripe that has the johnson name& hp. The lower part of the motor is that bronzey/brown/green. thanks

Looks like in '73 they switched the Johnson logo to white on black on the cowl:
1973 Ebay AD.
Seems to confirm 1972.

Great looking V4 Droll!
