Hi!

Please have a look at these pictures:

http://www.schoenmueller.com/index.php?_seahorse

Does anyone have a clue?

The Modellnumber is: GM 75C
The Serial Number is: J25 80 309

The sign also reads: 75 Horsepower run from 4500 to 5000 rpm.

We know it's a 2 Stroke V4. The previous owner mentioned that it was probably in Army use, there the strange SN?

That motor is older than a 1969. 68 was the last year the V4s were built like that. In 1966 - 67 Evinrude/Johnson made an 80hp model like that. Rpm range was 4000 - 5000. A 75 horse was made from 1960 - 65. again rpm range 4000 - 5000

The motor has a magneto, a two-barrel downdraft carb with fixed high-speed and adjustable low-speed jets, and a mechanical shift lower unit.

I believe those characteristics place it as 1958-1966, and 80hp or less. The 90hp has an inline 4 barrel carb, and I 'think' 1966 is the last year for the magneto.

I can't tell you more than that. It looks nearly identical to a 1966 80hp Evinrude that I have, except as you say it's painted military green. My best guess is it's a 75hp Johnson from 1966 or slightly before that.

1967 was the last year for the magneto, and 65 was the last year for the 75hp

Thanx Guys!

We're narrowing it down ;-)

The weird thing though, ist that the hood reads Super Seahorse 80. Could somebody have switched it?

Since it definetely seems to be a 75 HP and being built in 65 at the latest, what fuel/oil ratio should we use? 50:1?

The 80hp was only made in '66 and '67. '66 models were an off white color called French silver. '67 models were a light green color. Therefor yours is an '67

Hi!
If I could be sure, that nobody switched the hood, we'd have a winner! But, like stated, the Johnson Engine Tag reads 75 HP ?!?!?
