If I remove the whale tail or whatever it called do I leave the bolts in the holes or leave them out? I will get a GPSD to test speeds and such but wanted to know about holes from people who put 1 on and took it off.

I've seen Alot of Cav. Plates with Holes in them.........
But,.. I've Never seen an Extra set of Bolts left in the holes..........

Use them to hold the 2 halfs together, when not in use.............

Realgun, put a piece of duct tape on the underside and fill 'em with JB weld. Then go buy yourself a set of Smart Tabs. That's what my Gulfstream will have on it when it finally hits the water. At least those dirty @*%#@ didn't get my new Smart Tabs.

You can just leave the holes if you don't mind looking at them, there is no performance advantage to filling them, just asthetics. The cav plate should not be submerged when on plane anyway, so there won't be an issue performance-wise.

Re: Remove whale tail

Tried with fin and without. On my boat, fins make a difference to holeshot, but not much else. They seem to make slippage worse on tight turns - I can turn faster and tighter without them. Can't speak for other boats.

I just left the holes, touched in with some matching paint, made sure of my zincs, and kept the bolt set with the fins.

Gonna try a new type of autotab next week, and make an assessment.

Ok will take them off and see what the deal is as soon as i get All the little things fixed again. :) Steering has been corrected but the throttle cable is going to take time to figure out/fix.
