My bet is the water poump and deflectors.<br /><br />Replace the whole water pump kit, not just the impeller.<br /><br />The deflectors (under the cylinder heads) are cheap and easy to replace.

How do I get to the middle waterflow restrictors? Do I remove the cylinderhead? What do they look like? (I didn't know they existed...=) )<br /><br />I want to check everything else before taking the boat on land, cause it's a bit tricky (have to get someone to run the truck and so). But I'll probably replace the waterpump later anyway.

Hello,<br />went down to the boat today and tried to see how to remove the thermostats. However, the bults are too hard to get to. I looked if I could remove the lower cowling, but one of the bolts seemed impossible to get to without removing everything else...<br /><br />Anyway, thanks for all help, but now I think I'm giving up.

Asok, did mine this spring from guidance from SoLittle and others. It was a pain, but I'm glad I did it myself. I removed every bolt from the lower cowling to gain about 1/8". Not as much as I expected. One of the bolts sheared with just enough exposed to file some "bite" and use a crescent wrench. Not trying to discourage you, but it is "doable" for a do-it-yourselfer.

The problem is that I can't access one of the bolts that holds the lower cowling, it's just to tight. There has to be a way that I can't see.

If you plan on keeping this motor give some thought to doing the other stuff recommended here at some point.

Actually, I'm thinking of getting rid of this one and buy a smaller and newer one. But otherwise, I will.
