Oh no!!!

I just spent the last week rebuilding the powerhead on a 98 115 Johnson. I just bought the boat at a discount price due to the bad cylinder so I don't know all the little quirks about this boat. I do know it ran and everything worked when I got it. Anyway I finished installing the powerhead and hooked up the batery so I could raise the motor to drop the lower unit and change the water pump. It started to raise and I stoped it for a moment so I could bump the starter. Not to start it but to see if I had power there. I got nothing. Then when I went back to raising the motor all I got was a clicking sound. I thought maybe the batery had died since the boat hadn't been started in over a month so I hooked up my charger. After about a half hour I tried again, nothing. I am about 99% sure everything is hooked up right (they make these things pretty much fool proof). I thought I would let it charge all night and try again before work in the morning. If that doesn't work I will probably pull one of the bateries out of my other boat. If that doesn't work I am not sure where to start. Guess to start with I will check to see if I have a good engine ground. Anybody ever experience this kind of a problem after a rebuild? Any suggestions on troubleshooting would be apreciated.

Re: Oh no!!!

Try "Outboard wont start" in FAQ

Whole section on why the starter wont turn..

Also: Please state the problem in the topic title. That will get you a lot more attention.

Good luck. :)

Re: Oh no!!!

I guess it was a little premature worry. A full charge on the batery did the trick. Sorry if I jumped the gun on this one. I was tired and expected perfection right off the bat.
