I have a 1989 evinrude 150 vro, i get a fuel restriction alarm intermitenly, all the lines and filters have been replaced, anti siphon removed, i vacumme test the sensor it is in range..i hear the pump make a clicking noise, sometimes it will run for an hour or more..and sometimes as soon as you turn it on the alarm goes off. all off the fuel line conections are tight but i sometimes see air in the in line filter..and the primer does not get rock hard, but you can feel fuel in it.

There should be NO air in the lines. That's what is causing your alarm to go off.

I would suspect two things.

1. Make sure your tank is venting.

2. Look at the pick up tube in the tank. It may be cracked at the flange.

The next time the alarm sounds, remove the wires from your oil tank where they connect at the motor and see if the horn stops buzzing. Sometimes the electronics that sound the LOW OIL alarm go belly up and cause all kinds of weird horn sounds.

dj you were right..i disconnected the fuel line from the tank pick up and ran in through the gauge sending unit. the fuel level in my see thru filter remained the same with NO air.. when i reconnected it to the pick up the level dropped and i got the alarm...is there an after market replacement for the pick up i have an aluimnum tank and the pick up appears to be welded on..
