Any of you wrenches out there ever used ficht reed blocks on a carb engine ?
I have a 60'115hp 1995 that I'm rebuilding for myself and have many near new ficht parts at my disposal. Now I know the part #'s are different but they have the same foot print ,height ect. but the stops have a larger opening on the ficht blocks and the blocks themselves are rubbber coated ( that shouldn't matter ).I was going to mic them up but never had a chance today.
Any thoughts we be nice,thanks.

It'll work fine. Especially at higher rpms although the stock reeds work right thru 6700. The Ficht reeds do flow more. It'll make a nice set up.

What else are you doing to the block?

Re: Ficht to Carb reed blocks

Well it's been awhile but after having the engine done and hanging on the boat since mid Sept I got out during the X-mas break.
It ran great, very snappy hole shot and smooth through all rpm's.Changed to a 13x17 Sileto prop I had and its turning 5800 wot.Still a little low for me so I'm sending it out to get a 1" taking out.
You asked what I did to it.Bored all holes to .020" ,all new bearings, rebuilt carbs ,rebuilt gearcase and just made the thing look new again.I gained almost 10mph over my 90hp and now can cruise at 40 mph instaed of 30 mph.If I every figure out the picture thing here I'll post some pixs.
The one thing that I want to do is find a big g/c in need of a rebuild so I can change over mine.

Dont take any bite out of the prop. You'll be severly disappointed.

The problem is I was out with just on other guy. When I go fishing with all the gear and two guys or pulling skiers I won't be happy then.I rather loose the top end speed to gain the rpm the work the engine . A screaming engine is a happy engine.

Dont take bite out. Youll not be happy. If you need holeshot and rpms on top, raise the motor. A Stiletto is too good a prop to ruin it.

Can't raise the motor( third hole already ) ,should of said I did but I had to put it back down one because it vented in corners horribly , besides the prop was free and it's just temporary till I get the big g/c.

Why do you want the bigger gearcase? Drag is higher, props coat more. If it is durability, the V4 case is almost bullet proof.

Re: Ficht to Carb reed blocks

If a Stiletto broke lose with the motor in the 3rd hole up, somethings not right with it anyway. Since it was free, its no big deal.

I'm with Jimmbo -- I'd prefer the V4 style case.
