Trying to get buddy's boat in running condition. (1990 90hp V4) Cleaned and gapped plugs, found 1 QL77CJ4 plug and three L77CJ4. I expected all four to be the "Q" type because its a VRO. I remember something about the VRO being linked to a particular cylinder. Which one? Also which cylinder is which?

Re: 1 "Q" plug, 3 standard type

My sources list QL77JC4 or QL82C gapped at .030 for that engine.Don't know if the non resistor plug would cause damage to the engines ignition components or not ,but the resistor plug is recommended.

As for any issue relating the VRO to any partuicular cylinder I can tell you with reliable certainty that the VRO is and can not be cylinder selective. The oil and gas is blended before it reaches the pump outlet which is then distributed to each carburetor.

Not a mechanic but my head says Q plugs must be used on motors with the electronig ignition, Q plug in a non electronic will not cause proplems and may help keep "Noise" out of your botom painter.

I had a cool link on this I'll see if I can find it again.

Mac
