Engine cut and broke the pin Johnson 25 hp

Hello<br /><br />I' m a proud owner of a Johnson 73 25 HP and i need help to find his probleme.<br />the engine run and cut off fraction of a second like it give kick and after few kicks it broke the flywheel pin.<br /><br />I ckeck the point gap .020! the coil ! but i' m stuck with this probleme.<br /><br />Could you tell me where to look?<br /><br />Thank you

Howdy, neighbor.<br /><br />Welcome to iboats. :) <br /><br />I would start by checking the flywheel key, Elvis. Sounds like she jumped timing.

If the key sheared the flywheel nut probably wasn't tightened enough.

The jump was likely caused by a worn clutch dog, whichmay have shocked the drive train enough to shear the flywheel key - which was likely helped along by an improperly torqued flywheel nut...<br />- Scott

If the engine is running lean (fouled carb) it will "sneeze" and cause what happened.

Yep, My evinrude manual warns of that DJ. And the flywheel nut needs to be torqued to the upper limit that the book calls for.
