I am looking for a routing diagram for the recirculation hoses on a 1985 235hp Johnson. I have a Clymer "repair manual" and they don't show them and the local dealer has been less than helpfull. This engine has none of the hoses in place. I am assuming that these are for the puddle drain system?

Regards
John

Re: Recirculation hoses

Welcome and correct!

There are several ways to route them depending on which intake and by-pass covers you use. The basic principle is that you dont want a hose going from the intake on a given cylinder to that same cylinder on the block.

Lets start with the easiest scenario. If you have a nipple on the intake for each of the six cylinders and a nipple on each by-pass cover, then route each one to the next cylinder, IE -- the nipple for #1 cylinder on the intake gets hosed to #2 by-pass cover. 3 to 4, 4 to 5, 5 to 6 and 6 to 1.

Let us know if that helps.

Re: Recirculation hoses

I appreciate your response.
How ever I forgot to mention that while the hoses are not attached I do have a couple that were in a "parts box" and one of them has a 4 way connector on it. I understand the what you are talking about(I was a dealer mechanic for a few years but that was back in the mid to late 70's then I went on my own doing nothing but inboards on larger boats for 14 years).
