RPMs WOT?

I'm trying to decide on the right prop for my boat. I have noticed when I run my reciently rebuilt 115 WOT I turn about 5800 RPMs with me (250 lbs) and my son (200 lbs) in the boat. This morning when my son and I took the wife for a ride she would only run about 5500 RPMS. Should the extra 120 lbs make that much difference? Does the wife need to go on a diet(just kidding)? Anyway I have heard people on this forum say a 115 should run about 6000 RPMs, is this with one person in the boat and should a load make that much difference? It does seem that a 3rd person did cut my RPMs by about 300.

Alot of variables. Where the old lady plunks down on the boat can have as much affect as her dress size. If your getting 5800 with an average load, I'd be happy with it.

Sounds like youre right in the range if the motor is healthy and turning 5800 with an average load.

How much you lose by adding a passanger depends a lot on hull design. Some designs carry a load better than others. It also has a lot to do with balance -- IE where weight is added or removed. Different props will react to laods differently. What happens depends on if your prop has bow lift, overall lift or stern lift built in.

Lots of factors but it sounds like you're in good shape for the style prop you have.
