When you get your boat ready this spring, don't forget to take out your dry chemical fire extinguisher, turn it over and bang it on the bottom and sides with a rubber mallet.
Great tip Ratfish. Most people don't realize the dry chemical settles to the bottom and clumps over time, possibly making the extinguisher unusable. I make it a habit to shake all my extinguishers several times a year.
Mine seems to have gone bad over the winter.
Just bought a new one yesterday.
But honestly, if there's a fire on board, I'm hitting the water.
