Re: Used Honda Civic on water?

Sounds like you have narrowed your field. I can agree on the pontoon. You guys might be mistaken for the geriatric cruise (until they got close of course..) On my lake, pontoons and outboards are the norm and everyone is just out there to have a good time.. Just a different boating culture.

You could also look at SeaRay, Four Winns, and Regal for other possible options..

That 25 footer would be great, but you'd have to dump that bimini in a hurry. Definitely not the mark of cool!

The bimini is a must, especially after being on the river in August when it's 120 degrees out and you're fried. It just won't be up all the time.

No, the bimini is quite welcome. When you put your suit on at 7:00 in the morning, are in the sun baking from early morning until the late afternoon, in 120 degree heat, and you're so red on your hips and shoulders that you're being called lobster-girl, the bimini is necessary. Even the cool boats have the bimini up in the late afternoon after a long day in the sun.

Has anyone heard of a Caribbean??? Some guy I know in Havasu just got one in - a 22' open bow. I'm open to look at anything, even though my heart is set on a Chap deck, because I'm not sure I'll be able to find one before summer starts.

Caribbean is an Aussie boat brand. Highly regarded boat builder but I just had a look at their website and I don't see a 22ft open bow.

Maybe it's unique to the northern hemisphere - dunno.

Aldo

Better buy a boat that will seat eleven. I'll be right on down. :D I love the sound of being able to put your suit on a 7 am, and hey I wouldn't pass on a tall frosty bloody mary, under the bimini in the mid afternoon. Of course I may need to be fanned, by an assortment of you beauties, until I acclimate to the afternoon heat. It's been a few years since I had the pleasure of experiencing that blast furnace heat. I miss it.

Okay, okay, I'll even sit on the back sundeck. You'all can just roll me off if I get to obnoxious. :p

Re: Used Honda Civic on water?

COME ON!!!! What you need is a sailboat, not some pathetic stink potter, only losers drive boats with iron sails)

J/K Personally I think you should look smaller (18-20 ft) for your first boat. A 22-24 foot I/O full of people is not going to be easy to control, or as much fun as a smaller more nimble craft.

But if you insist on getting something big and YOU HAVE the money to afford it, you should get a 50 foot turbine powered cigarette boat. ;) with a pair of $60,000 propellers. :-D

Honestly before you even touch a powerboat, go out and take some sailing lessons and see how much you enjoy it (you look like a sailing gal to me). Sailing will teach you everything you need to know about boating. PLUS if you get a new sailboat (like a 40 foot Catalina) you can sail it out somewhere, anchor it and start a big party on board.

Whatever you choose, please remember to take a boating safety course, get some nice life jackets (for some reason women would rather stay on a burning boat then hop in the water with a square life vest on...) and most of all HAVE FUN.

Be well.

Re: Used Honda Civic on water?

Sailing??? No sailboats are allowed on the Parker strip. They'd get smashed - seriously. In 26 years of going there I've never once seen a sail boat on the river. I'm not an ocean girl, either, it's too cold on the ocean. Lived in Hermosa Beach for years, 1 block from the ocean, and I couldn't stand the cold (cold to me is anything under 75 degrees). I'm 5'5" and 100 lbs. I have no insulation, which is why I'm moving to the desert where it's 110 on average all summer long.

VIP - not the best, from what I've heard...and my mechanic won't touch them.

Lessons: I've owned jet skis (my own) for years, my brother used to drive the boats in all the water shows at Universal Studios and stuff, and I've had (with boyfriends) a 22' Sport Cat (Advantage), a Sea Ray, a Cobalt, and a 26' Warlock. I've been around boats my whole life; I've driven boyfriends' boats for years. Yes, we will take lessons regarding International Waters and what-not, but we're not new to this by any means.

Re: Used Honda Civic on water?

Ya better hurry up and make up your mind. With summer fast approaching all of the good used boats will get snapped up.

And hey, after all this we expect PICTURES from your maiden voyage. And PLEASE size them so we don't have to squint! ;)

HEY I NEED HELP!

I found one, he had it listed for $22k. He just relisted it for $19,900. I talked to him, he just bought a brand new 23' Chap deck boat from the factory, needs to sell his pronto. It's super clean. Is there anyone in the Chandler, AZ area that can go look at this thing for me?

http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/7/4/78954874.htm
