Re: Selling My Boat, Have a ?
You will not be able to hand the buyer a clean title if the bank still has a lein on it. So the buyer may be reluctant to give you all the money if he can not get a clear title.

Perhaps you will have to meet him at the bank to complete the transaction on Monday.

Receipt should include the time and date, "as is-where is" or "no warranty" condition disclaimer, hull id number, motor serial number, trailer serial number, as well as a description of all three. Also the selling price, the amount of the deposit, the balance due, and a date by which the sale must be completed by or it will be cancelled ( deposit forfeited).

Have it all written up ahead of time and fill in the blanks with the appropriate numbers. It can all be done in 3-4 simple sentences.
Make two copies, you and the seller sign both of them, you each get one copy. This receipt will serve to protect both of you in case something goes wrong.

I also make a note about anyone that buys from me or sells to me. Such as address where I picked the item up, phone number, license plate number of their vehicle(s), names of friends that are with them. This makes it easier to track them down if the need should arise.
