I have a 1986 110hp evinrude , the power t@t motor is bad , how do i lower the trim down all the way down . I did loosen the screw on the side to lower the tilt, but i want to lower the trim to remove the motor? Can the trim be lowered without busten loose the hydraulic lines?

Re: lowering power trim manually

There is no way to lower the "Trim" rams without releasing the pressure in back of them via removing the "Tilt/Trim Seperation" valve which is located on the port (Left) side of the PTT unit in back of the port transom bracket.

This involves quite a bit of work to such a degree that while you're at it, you might as well replace the faulty electric motor.

Hmmmm, Joe I thought the manual release valve would do that. Have I been reading the prints wrong??

Jim... The manual release valve will allow the unit to lower the engine down of course, but only as far as the extended trim rams. Unless I've misread the original post, DDJK wants to have the trim rams pulled in.

Thanks Joe. I'll be re-learning that to myself sometime today or tomorrow.
