I want to buy a repair manual to cover my 1986 70 horse Johnson. Which should I buy Clymer or Selco?

Your first choice should be the OEM Manual, Fishin.

www.kencook.com offers reprints.

Good luck. :)

Thanks guys for the info. I couldn't find a site for the OEM manuals. marineengine.com looks like a good one.

The marineengine site carries OEM manuals. It's hard to find manuals on the kencook site unless you look in their 'Portfolio'.

Here's my collection of OEM manual links:
TheOutboardWizard
Mastertech
Marine Engine
Ken Cook
They all ultimately come from Ken Cook Co. They have the license to copy the manuals.

fishingeo,

You might also look on eBay. I found both a parts catalog and an OMC Service Manual for my Johnson for less than half the price from Ken Cook, et al. And they were both originals, not just copies. Ordinarily, I wouldn't suggest a non iBoats source, since they sponsor these forums, but their prices are simply not reasonable for these items.

Just my $0.02 worth,
Joe
