wow, if you can understand what you just posted well you a better ham than i .....from what i got you have had the 8 pistons put in this engine. 4 the first and 4 the second, a stator, 4 ign coils and secondary wires and a power pack in a pear tree...send me the engine, ill make it right...or find another mechanic, one who knows what is going on...first, is the engine blown up, whats your compression, second, what condition is the ignition system in, eg: post the outputs from the stator, timer base, powerpack, and coils....next, what is the fuel system like, are you changing pistons because lack of lubrication, overheating, hows you water pump and stats. is the engine running to lean are the carbs adjusted right etc...see where im going with this....you need to know certain things before you just start changing parts out..one thing i hate and i am sure alot of marine mechanics--good ones agree is a parts changer mechanic. anyone can change a part only a mechanic can repair an engine....so start wiht some of the basics first and get you compression and outputs posted for us to see......good luck

I believe I would do some serious reseach into the carbs to start with......perfectly clean is the only excepted condition...#2., I'd verify max timming advance, and make sure it's 2 degs or more BELOW max.<br />What brand and number of spark plugs are you using?????

Side to side usually means ignition. Across usually means carbs on those motors.
