I have an Evinrude 70hp outboard motor (model # 70573E and serial # A113560) on my 4.5m Dover half cabin.
Can anybody please tell me:
-what year is this motor,
-where I can get a service/repair manual,
-and can I get an electric power-trim accessory/add-on for this model?

Thank you
Jonathan Dowling,
Melbourne Australia

Get a Seloc manual. There are pages in the back that interpret the model number and letter. You should have one anyway. Mine is at the country place. I'll reference it this weekend.

G'Day, Jonathan.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Your engine is a 1975.

You can get an aftermarket manual here: http://www.boatmotors.com/manuals.html

Or the recommended OEM Manual here: http://www.kencook.com

Yes, you can convert your engine to T&T, either by adding an assembly from an original or by adding an aftermarket kit.

Good luck. :)

Thank you to all of you that have replied so promptly - what a wonderful forum this is. Am very proud to be an Australian, but I doubt you'd get this sort of support & assistance so readily 'down' here.

Why does Jim Matthews say to dump it?
-It seems to run okay (except have to lift cover and adjust manual choke to start when cold). Do you know something I don't and/or am I wasting my time servicing a motor this old???
Jonathan

Actually there are several regulars from Australia and New Zealand that hang out here.

About the choke, there may be three positions for it. Off, Auto, On. The electric choke will only work in the Auto position. Off and On override it.

Treat the motor with a decarbonizer at least annually. The demise of many of those was carbon building-up behind the rings. Others died from lean conditions caused buy air leaking past wear on the throttle shafts.

Re: Evinrude 70hp: ?year + trim option

sorry, the way it appears is: Fix it don't. (stop) Junk it. Considering you all drive on the wrong side of the road, I should have reversed the punctuation. Thank you again for your kind reply.
