1989 200hp no spark starboard bank

I have no spark on the starboard bank of my 89 - 200 Johnson. I checked the shift interuppter circuit & it looks ok. Any suggestions other than a new power pack? Is there any way to test a powerpack?<br />TIA

Welcome!!<br /><br />When you say the interrupter circuit "looks" OK, what do you mean? Did you take it out of the circuit and check for spark?<br /><br />A service manual will outline the tests for the pack. An OE manual is best.

Yes, I bypassed the circuit and it made no difference. There is no spark at all on any of the 3 cylinders.

Bummer. Well, it could be the pack but it could be the ststor or timer base also.

Didn't these have a single pack on top between the cylinders? My '88 225hp engines do.

I spent considerable time on one of those ignitions, yes, single power pack, the stator has 2 sections, port and starboard. There are some ok tests you can run with a peek voltmeter. <br />They were difficult for me to get a good reading.<br />If you need a power pack I have an extra I could spare. dave

I believe that I am going to have to replace the Power Pack. At least that seems to be the next logical step. How much would you want for your spare one, and where are you located. I'll gladly take all the help I can get!

I would take 50 bucks for it. I am located in south haven mi. I can send it to you and you can send me a check or paypall when you get it running. The tests are described in the omc manual pretty good. Its just hard to get your meter leads right while cranking and watching. dave
