I have a great running engine and took it out yesterday <br />(great compression and rebuilt carbs). I was going along well and the engine started bogging and losing power and then would pick up and bogg again. I hit the primer and the motor took off fine so it's in the carbs. I tried adjusting the mixture screws and blowing them out with carb clean thinking they were blocked. Long story short and a few cuss words, I got it in my garage and tore into it. I found the air line going to the top of the top carb was severed at the nipple on the carb. I couldn't see it unless I had the other line off, but it was definitely severed letting air in. Would essentially no hose on this air intake cause me to bog but the engine keep running?? I pulled the plugs and the bottom one was a nice carmel color and a touch of oil/gas on it. The top one was carmel but dry. Would the air intake cause the top cylinder to burn clean like that? What would the engine act like if I had a severed air line? Finally, the engine will start and idle fine. Just when you give it half to full throttle it starts the bogging.
