1975 70hp johnson leaking gear oil out foot

i have a 1975 johnson its leaking gear oil out the foot. do i have to have some kind of puller to get it apart. i just need to put seals in it i believe. any help much appreciated.

Are you absolutely sure it's gear lube and not unburned fuel/oil?

yes it was puffy and grey. i thought same thing

That sounds like gear lube. Make sure you're actually losing some.<br /><br />L/U's can be tricky and may need special tools.<br /><br />I wouldn't attempt it without one of these.<br /><br /> http://www.outboardrepairs.com/manuals/

can u tell me if that hub has to be pulled out or if it un screws out

did you pull plug and check to see if it is milky?

Emulsified fuel and water can be puffy and gray. And will run out around the propeller. Make sure before you attack the lower unit.
