91 johnson 40hp manual tilt

does anyone know where to find the tilt release cable for a manual tilt. haven't had any luck searching online.

Yours cracked too, Chaindwn ? The marina will order it for me ....might take a while they said. Must be easier in the States

Frank, sorry for the 4 day delay, I have to replace the entire cable as well as the little plastic clip. I have been searching online but I haven't found anything. I guess I am gonna have to go to a marina and get them to order it. The cable housing got rubbed all the way thru and frayed the cable causing it to not slide through the housing. That caused the plastic clip to break when i forced that lever to turn.

Chaindw, exactly the same problem here . Tried to get the partnumber for it to " assist" my wrench getting it (other post). No reply yet though, tried to find it in parts search, no dice either. Maybe he'll get it anyway. Wish you luck!!<br />Frank

Here's what I found in the parts diagrams at ishopmarine.com. If you go there, click "Parts Lists," then drill down in the screens to your model. You'll find the parts for the tilt stuff in the "Exhaust housing & Stern & Swivel Bracket"<br />category. I don't have your model number so I can't be sure of these parts. Be sure to check:<br /><br />0434392 <br />[0436202]

Temporary solution....duct tape, piece of tubing and tierips what else <br />. Been a month now and the marina's still not come up with a new cable....

My cable has broken at the lever. Is there a way to release the tilt another way while the boat is in the water?

Does the posted picture refer to this?
