Re: Trim guage
Trim senders are variable resistance things - they have higher resistance in one position, low or zero in the other. There are basically two general types - one has higher resistance in the up position, one in the down.

The good news, is that I believe that all OMC outboards trim senders, no matter what the year, have the same sender specs in terms of ohms up vs. ohms down. I'm not absolutely sure about that since there is variability between manufacturers as well as different eras for certain manufacturers. I'd just hook it up according to OBJ's advice and see if your engine's full up and down show accurately on the dial.

I don't know how good the online info for Faria is, but I find the Teleflex website extremely valuable for general and specific info on gauges and senders, no matter what brand you're using.

http://www.tflx.com/ Browse around in the technical assistance and guage search menues, I think you'll find it interesting.

The website also has tech info which can show you how to test both the gauge or sender. It's easy to do if you have rudimetnary understanding of a multi meter. Have fun, hope it works out.
