Good afternoon everyone,

I finally cranked my boat motor today and it took about 5 to 6 crank times to get her to crank. I think I had air in the fuel line because I had rebuilt it put a new squeeze bulb, new fuel filter the see through glass type, and new tank and engine connector fittings. But after it cranked it ran beautiful at idle with the muffs on it and it pumped water pretty good out of the tale-tale so I guess I put it together right. It ran for about 15 minutes with no problems. It smoked a very little at the prop area. I was able to put my fingers on the flats of the heads for around four seconds until I needed to move them. Does this sound normal to you and also how critical is the water tube grommet according to the water pump instructions shows it going into the water pump housing then screwing the water tube guide over it with the two screws. If it is peeing pretty strongly I guess I got it right I also replaced the thermostats about the same time I replaced the water pump. If it sounds and runs as good as it did on the muffs in the driveway this past Saturday I hope it runs the same in the lake?
