Evinrudes troubles - the nightmare trip from Nassau
Evinrude Engine failure: lost three fichtson 180 mile trip. Other problems with these engines too.

Repowering now with three 225 Yamaha 4 strokes.

I had a 10 amp fuse on the center engine that kept blowing when this Evinrude 250 was hot, and you shut her down.

the fuse would blow every time when you tried to restart.

Cold; she would not blow the fuse.

On an Evinrude this 10 amp fuse controls everything, and your starter won't engage when she "blows".

that's another reason I am in the midst of repowering.

On the 180 mile (last) trip with these 4 year old 250 Fichts, I lost the port engine about 70 miles out (either another EMM failure or something else). She still turns over, but won't run!

Than, when I made it to Port Everglades inlet (on the remaining two engines), the center engine popped out of forward gear after I came off of a plane, and would not go back into forward, but would go into reverse, so I "Shut er down" like the Cable Guy told me, and came into the "intercoastal" on my last engine (the starboard side).

The starboard engine conked out 3 blocks from customs. It was like someone pulled the plug on your vacuum cleaner.

I got her restarted - made it to customs, but had another 11 miles down the intercoastal to go.

The engine failed five more times before I hit the ramp at Hollindale to get hauled on a trailer.

It's probably another failed EMM on the Starboard.

I have had 8 EMMs on this boat - that's why I didn't even think twice about another set of ETecs.

Bombardier once gave me 3 EMMs FREE at 200 hours, and I had two failures before this.

Spoke to Bob who is installing the Yammies this morning.

He's installed hundreds of engines of all types. He's been building boats since the 1970s.

Builds a strong 40 footer. better than any Fountain. 1-1/2 inch thick is the thickness of the thru hole fitting in the stern.

all fiberglass - I had my gunwales foamed up to the bow for more strength.
