I would like to know how to take off throttle linkage to drop lower unit to replace seals, and also gather info on how to time lower shaft gear by counting clockwise rotations, and a exploded view of the lower unit if any one could send for now. Thanks!

to remove your throttle linkage, on the left side of the engine, where the throttle linkage/shift linkage hooks up, you will see a cotter pin near the base of the carburator, remove that pin and the shift linkage rod will be able to slide out to you (about 1/2 an inch). that should release the shift linkage so you can drop the lower unit. If that does not work, you will have to remove the starter motor, and below the lower carburator, you will see the top of the linkage, simply remove the one bolt holding the cam in place.

web page

That link will let you see a break down of a engine very similar to yours.

Goldfish thanks for the reply, what i mean is once you disconnect the throttle linkage and drop the lower unit i was told you need to turn the linkage shaft clockwise all the way in counting the turns it takes to bottom out, (the after putting seals in), back it back out the same amount of times, to time the linkage for proper forward/reverse shifting. I hope this helps, but most off all, is this correct.
